Today is the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s (PDFNJ) Prevention Concert for the Your Song! Your Voice! Shout Down Drugs New Jersey music competition. The competition is designed to challenge New Jersey high school students to create original music and lyrics with powerful peer-to-peer substance use prevention messages.
Each year, I am more and more impressed by these talented teens, not only for their original songs, but for stepping up and being peer leaders by sharing these important messages about living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
I want to thank the New Jersey Broadcasters Association and 95.9 FM WRAT for sponsoring this year’s event. This the 20th year of the competition, and we are excited to showcase these teens and their exceptional talent.
This year, there are fifteen finalists from all across New Jersey taking part in the Prevention Concert, which will air at 5:30 p.m. tonight on www.shoutdowndrugs.com. The winners will then be announced live on air on 95.9 FM WRAT or www.wrat.com immediately following the concert.
Good luck to all the finalists and thank you for spreading these important messages to your community and throughout the state. I urge everyone to share the information about the Prevention Concert and to tune in at 5:30 p.m. tonight.
