New Jersey legislators and Gov. Murphy deserve recognition for passing a 'no supplantation' law, ensuring opioid settlement funds are dedicated solely to education, prevention, treatment, family support, and harm reduction. This commitment safeguards these vital resources from being diverted elsewhere.
FED UP!, an organization led by parents who lost children to overdoses, calls for comprehensive Federal action against the opioid crisis and urges other states to adopt similar protections. Currently, only 13 other states and Washington, D.C., have such laws.
New Jersey's leadership serves as a national example. We encourage other states to follow suit and enact 'no supplantation' laws. Every dollar of opioid settlement money must go towards ending this crisis.
