Carrying the Momentum Forward After Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day

From local businesses and schools to law enforcement and community coalitions, thousands of New Jersey residents came together on Monday to share resources and save lives on Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day.

This annual day of unity highlighted the strength of our state when we work together to protect one another. It is through prevention, education, and compassion that we continue to make a difference in the fight against the opioid epidemic.

Recent data offers encouragement. In the first half of 2024, drug deaths declined in 17 of New Jersey’s 21 counties. While this progress gives us reason for hope, it also reminds us that there is more work to do to reach every person, in every community, who may be struggling or at risk.

The energy and dedication shown during Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day must carry forward beyond a single day of awareness. Every conversation, every resource shared, and every connection made helps move New Jersey closer to ending this crisis. Together, we can sustain the progress achieved and build a safer, healthier future for all.
