On Thursday, May 23, Wall High School students Evan Hutchins and Veronica Portelli of Wall, are two of 33 New Jersey high school student finalists performing at the Ninth Annual Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s Shout Down DrugsPrevention Concert, presented by Comcast. Hutchins and Portelli will perform their original song, “Hold On,” at the statewide concert held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, New Jersey.

The New Jersey Shout Down Drugs music competition challenges high school students to create original music with lyrics that contain powerful peer-to-peer drug prevention messages.  Thirty-three high school students, representing 16 New Jersey counties, will compete for one of three music contracts with the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ), worth a total of $10,000, to perform their winning song at statewide events.

The program’s website, www.shoutdowndrugs.com, features profiles of this year’s finalists and allows the public to cast votes for their favorite songs. These results will be factored into the finalists’ scores on the night of the concert. Tickets to the concert are free of charge, but must be reserved atwww.shoutdowndrugs.com.
