WEST WINDSOR, NJ ― The New Jersey Communications Advertising and Marketing Association (NJ CAMA) recently recognized New Jersey companies at its 6th Annual Think Astra Astra Awards Banquet Dinner on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Conference Center at Mercer in West Windsor, New Jersey.

The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, Millburn, New Jersey, took home two Silver ASTRA Awards for Out-of-Home Mass Transit Vehicle Advertising and Local Radio Single Spot (Radio PSA). The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey?s media campaign, GetSmartNJ.org, featuring four strong anti-drug awareness messages, took Silver Place Honors in the Out-of-Home Mass Transit Vehicle advertising category. The Partnership?s Middle School ?Listen Up? Radio PSA Challenge, calling all New Jersey Middle School students to create a 30 second peer-to-peer substance abuse prevention radio Public Service Announcement (PSA), co sponsored by the New Jersey Division Alcoholic Beverage Control, took Silver Place Honors in the Local Radio Single Spot for Radio PSA.

The 2008 ASTRA AWARDS competition called for all New Jersey companies who engage in advertising, marketing and communications creative efforts that have appeared, aired or published for the first time in media between January 1 and December 31, 2007. A panel of judges was selected for their expertise in communications, advertising and marketing, and made hard decisions in choosing the award honorees in 19 categories.

The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) was created in 1992 with a mission to reduce the incidence of substance abuse throughout New Jersey. PDFNJ continues to serve as an anti-drug alliance to localize, strengthen and deepen drug and alcohol abuse prevention media efforts in our state. PDFNJ also offers school-based programs, drug-free workplace assistance, and parent education training. PDFNJ works in cooperation with the Governor?s Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse and the NJ Department of Human Services. All PDFNJ programs are available free of charge to the residents of New Jersey.
