WWOR-TV/My9 Receives Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s Angel of Hope Award for Commitment to Opioid Awareness
Jersey City, NJ — WWOR-TV/My9 was honored with the Angel of Hope Award at the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey's (PDFNJ) 30th Angel of Hope Gala on May 15 at the Liberty House.
The award was given in recognition of the station's significant contributions to raising awareness about the opioid crisis in New Jersey. Dan Bowens, co-host of "Good Day Wake Up" on My9's sister station FOX 5, accepted the award on behalf of the station.
PDFNJ Executive Director Angelo Valente said WWOR-TV/My9 has been at the forefront of the fight against opioid abuse, dedicating substantial resources to producing content that informs and educates viewers on the epidemic's impact on communities.
"WWWOR-TV/My9 has been a vital ally in our mission to combat the opioid crisis," he said. "This dedication has been pivotal in promoting a deeper understanding of the dangers associated with opioid use."
A New Jersey native and a six-time Emmy winner, Bowens has been a key figure in the station's efforts to educate the public about opioid use. He is also known for his community involvement, school volunteering, and serving on the selection committee of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties.
The Angel of Hope Gala, organized by trustees Elaine and Steve Pozycki, celebrates those who have significantly contributed to the fight against substance use. The event supports PDFNJ's ongoing mission to promote drug-free living across New Jersey.
